How to become involved in U.S. CLIVAR

  • Become a panel memeber

Each November, U.S. CLIVAR solicits a call for new panel membership. Members can self-nominate or have others nominated them. Look for the announcement in EOS, the U.S. CLIVAR monthly newsgram, or contact the current panel chairs directly. Panel members typically serve 3-4 years on the panel and are expected to attend the annual summit each summer.

    Current Panel Member Profiles

  • Propose a new U.S. CLIVAR Working Group

Throughout the year, U.S. CLIVAR solicits prospectuses for new Working Groups. To view the current U.S. CLIVAR Working Group prospectuses, click here. Announcements for these new Working Groups can be found in the U.S. CLIVAR monthly newsgram, EOS and on the U.S. CLIVAR website.

  • Contact a U.S. CLIVAR Interagency Working Group member or submit research proposals to the agency representatives
  • Participate in one of the small grants programs
  • U.S. CLIVAR has coordinated activities to support diagnostic analyses leading to the evaluation of U.S. coupled climate model simulations of the late 19th - 20th century. The objective is to increase community-wide diagnostic research into the quality of model simulations, leading to more robust evaluations of model predictions and a better quantification of uncertainty in projections of future climate.

  • Become involved in a Climate Process Team (CPT)
  • Sign up for the U.S. CLIVAR Monthly Newsgram and U.S. CLIVAR Variations (quarterly newsletter) to stay informed!
