Develop and advise the SSC on field, empirical and model studies in the Southern Ocean sector needed to achieve the CLIVAR goals.
Suggest to the SSC appropriate mechanisms (e.g. community meetings, working
groups, commissioned studies, etc.) for such studies.
Coordinate U.S. activities with international studies of the Southern Ocean
and climate, and revelvant national programs.* (*Whatever emerges from a
carbon program would be such a relevant national program.)
