To coordinate and conduct empirical modeling and diagnostic studies of Asian-Australian Monsoon (AAM) to provide better understanding of the variability and predictability of the AAM and its impacts on other climate systems such as ENSO and global climate including the US.
To promote interaction between U.S. CLIVAR and the U.S. GEWEX communities and international CLIVAR activities concerning the Austral Asian monsoon.
Where additional studies are needed, provide plans for U.S. activities to the U.S. CLIVAR SSC for implementation.
